Most of us wish to live in this world from a place of love, compassion, authenticity, courage, vulnerability and confidence. In other words, from the HIGHER SELF.
How do we know if we are living from the higher self? In some cases, an abstract concept is easier to explain by stating WHAT IT IS NOT as opposed to WHAT IT IS. In this case, I’m going to follow that principle.
Following are examples of how we can be aware of the moments where we are not operating from the higher self.
- Anytime we are clinging to results, we are operating from the lower self.
- Anytime we are expecting acceptance and validation from someone (or our community), we are operating from the lower self.
- Anytime we take on a task and have a strong desire to be recognized, we are operating from the lower self.
- Anytime we speak our truth yet cannot respect another person’s truth, we are operating from the lower self.
- Anytime we choose not to be vulnerable about who we are (the good and the bad) with others, we are operating from the lower self.
- Anytime we judge others, which is a reflection of what is on the inside of us, we are operating from the lower self.
- Anytime we attach our identity to wealth, beauty, possessions or power, we are operating from the lower self.
I believe the secret to operating from the higher self is beautifully explained in this passage:
“Kill out the desire for life.
Kill out the Ambition.
Kill out desire for comfort;
Yet work as those who love life.
Respect life as those who are ambitious.
Be happy as those are who live for happiness”
